  • EAST INDIE CLUB: THE STEADY LETTERS @93 Feet East

    Full Line Up: The Steady Letters, Arron Green & the Blues Mess Band, Jack Found, The Vaulted Skies, Chernobyl Sunshine Club, Charlotte Berg, The Other Part of Me

    Our September line up at 93 Feet East promises to offer some of the best and most unique alt/indie acts on the underground circuit right now.

    London indie rockers, The Steady Letters will top the bill. These guys mix rock beats with bluesy riffs that give their sound a groovy edge. Despite being relatively new to the scene, these guys have developed a strong confident sound which we’re looking forward to hearing on their upcoming, self-titled EP.

    Arron Green and the Blue Mess Band are a London quartet that play grungy, bluesy indie. The band was born out of Aaron Green’s solo project and, despite being relatively new to the scene, are already turning heads.

    Alt/pop singer-songwriter Jack Found will be joining us with his band for the evening. Jack’s sound is distinctive with elements of electro, ska and indie. This sound has gained him a whole host of radio airplay, including on BBC Radio London.

    Joining us from St Albans for the show is The Vaulted Skies, a five piece who play a heady mix of indie/rock, edgy pop, dance electronica and a little bit of goth thrown in for good measure. Expect a high energy performance and catchy tunes a plenty.

    London based five piece, Chernobyl Sunshine Club play indie/alt/folk that is laden with infectious vocal hooks and foot stomping choruses. This sound has gained them airplay on local and online radio and some great reviews.

    After impressing promoters Absent Kelly at a previous show, songstress Charlotte Berg will be joining us all the way from the USA for the show. Charlotte’s sound has seen her gain numerous great reviews and tour the world.

    The Other Part of Me is the moniker of London based singer-songwriter Anwar. Expect uplifting pop tunes reminiscent of Jason Mraz.

  • ABSENT KELLY INTRODUCING: MONIKA @Amersham Arms

    Full Line Up: Monika, James Beau Barclay, Spinner, As Mamas, Night Ride

    Head down to the Amersham Arms to see off September with some of the best alt/indie the country currently has to offer!

    Local three piece MONIKA are topping the bill. Taking influence from The Cribs, The National and Suede, the trio write songs about London life, love and loss and are building on their debut EP, “Benefits”, to bring their brand of post-punk infused rock to shows in new cities.

    James Beau Barclay will be providing support. Joined by his band for the evening, this South East Londoner will be playing his brand of indie/pop that has seen him compared to Matt Corby and Alex Vargas.

    Kent trio, Spinner will be bringing with them their brand of mod and Britpop inspired indie. They may be relatively new to the scene but they’re already making waves with their huge sound!

    As Mamas are a two piece psychedelic rock ‘n’ roll band from Worcestershire who play fuzzy, solo-heavy rock ‘n’ roll with elements of blues and funk

    Rock inspired Synth-Pop duo Night Ride will be opening the show. These guys have becoming known for their huge electro/rock sound, and will be debuting a ton of new material at this show!

  • SONIC SKETCH: AN ORANGE CONSPIRACY @Notting Hill Arts Club

    Full Line Up: An Orange Conspiracy, Naked Next Door, Wah Wah Club, Riveira, L.S. Aphid

    This September at Sonic Sketch, we’ve invited along a very special headline act with some great support!

    After impressing promoters Absent Kelly at a previous show, An Orange Conspiracy return to headline. These three lads from London who play Indie Rock ‘N’ Roll with a retro edge. Their distinctive sound has gained them a host of fantastic reviews, with ‘Small City Big Personality’ writing, “There’s a real swagger to the performance and it showcases some really solid songwriting”.

    Also from Bucks, Naked Next Door are a four piece who play Indie/Rock influenced by the likes of Nothing but Thieves and RadioHead that has gained them a loyal following and quite a name for themselves on their local circuit.

    Also from Milton Keynes is indie/rock quartet Wah Wah Club. These guys specialise in gritty, catchy alt/rock that has seen them bag slots on numerous festival line ups and support slots alongside big names like Muncie Girls.

    Brighton quartet Riveira will be there too. These guys are relatively new to the scene but are already turning heads on their local scene and are being tipped for big things.

    London newbies L.S. Aphid will be there too. Expect experimental psychedelia that is totally unique and complex.

  • FICKLE FRIENDS (DJ SET) @Amersham Arms

    Indie Pop sweethearts Fickle Friends are taking a break from taking over the world to join us for the hottest party going!

    The Brighton band have exploded onto the scene in the last year and are one of the hippest emerging bands on the circuit right now! They’ve been snapped up to play some of the biggest festivals in the world, including Ibiza Rocks and Reading & Leeds on the Radio 1 NME stage. National Radio have fallen in love with the band, resulting in them recently recording an incredible session for BBC Introducing! In the midst of prepping for their upcoming, huge UK tour, they’ll be spinning some of their favourite floor-fillers down at Goldsmith’s Uni haunt, the Amersham Arms.

    We’ll also be filling the night with some hot up and coming talent, with a selection of some of our favourite new indie bands playing live throughout the evening.

  • GET FUNKED: WONDRWOMN @Hope & Anchor

    Full Line Up: WondRWomN, Daniel Adam, Bevan Soga, Lizzi, Catherine Claire Embleton, Blaise Pascal

    We’re ending September with a night of top class Soul, Funk, R&B and Hip Hop at one of Islington’s best loved live music venues.

    Topping the evening’s bill is WondRWomN. This North London artist specialises in crafting her own unique brand of ‘Grit Pop’, blending elements of Hip Hop, Psychedelic Soul and Funk. She may be relatively new to the scene, but is already turning heads with her sound and stage presence!

    Brighton based Electronic Duo Daniel Adam bring their own brand of Dark Anthems, Cinematic Soundscapes and Techno Trance to the stage. Their music has been featured in TV and Film, by the BBC and has also been performed in clubland across the globe.

    Originally from Cape Town, but now London based, Bevan Soga is a singer-songwriter who plays soulful pop, overlaid with gorgeous rich vocals, that has seen him feature on BBC Radio!

    East London based independent artist Lizzi writes alternative, electronic pop music with old school soul, disco and vintage RnB influences. With an EP on the way, keep your eyes peeled for her!

    Catherine Claire Embleton is a songstress from Bristol, who is now based in London. Her alternative soulful folk is sublime, and her voice is sure to captivate.

    Opening the show is Blaise Pascal, originally a dancer, but now a singer-songwriter with an incredible voice that has seen him gain a lot of radio airplay!

  • PERMISSION TO DANCE @Camden Assembly

    Get yourself down to the Camden Assembly this October for a groovy night of Nu-Disco from some new talent!

    After impressing promoters Absent Kelly at a previous show, Permission to Dance return to top the bill. This five piece from East London play funky disco pop that is hugely infectious and will have you on the floor all night! This sound has seen the band bag festival slots, rave reviews and a nomination for ‘Best Pop Act’ at the NMG Awards. These guys are definitely ones to watch right now!

    The band will be launching their album at the show, so come and help them celebrate!

  • ABSENT KELLY PRESENTS GET FUNKED: WAX @The Fiddler's Elbow

    Full Line Up: Wax, The Twist UK, RiTA, Loui Andrew George, Cassa Jackson, Aniya, Tialian

    For a night of some of the hottest new soul, funk, pop and R7B talent, look no further than Camden’s Fiddler’s Elbow this October!

    Topping the bill is Wax. Wax are a four piece from London who specialise in playing intense and brooding electronic pop that has 80s synth pop elements strewn throughout. This sound has seen them receive rave reviews and won their past single, “1848” the title of BBC Introducing in Kent’s Record of the week. With a ton of hype around them, we’re expecting big things from these guys!

    Providing support are The Twist UK. This five piece from London fuse elements of pop, r&b, funk and jazz to create something unique and sublime. They may be relatively new to the scene, but their sound is already turning heads on the underground circuit!

    Portuguese songstress RiTA and her band will also be joining us to play her soulful, funky jazz sound. RiTA will be playing songs from her brand new EP, “AGUA” at the show which, if the teasers she’s been posting online are anything to go by, is set to be an incredible debut!

    Loui Andrew George is a Bristolian singer-songwriter, who now resides in London, and plays gospel inspired blues/pop. Joined by his band for the evening, Loui promises to mesmerise with his signature spectacular vocal performance.

    Talented young songstress Cassa Jackson will be there too. Cassa has played some huge shows in her time, including Colour Day Festival in Athens and at Wembley Arena, so expect a massive performance from her and her band.

    Dark alt/pop artist Aniya will also be on the bill. This singer-songwriter has been gaining momentum on the underground scene thanks to a number of great reviews and her reputation for electrifying live performances.

    Mixing blues, jazz and soul, Tialian is a solo act from Essex whose laid back sound and beautiful voice will truly enthral you!

  • ABSENT KELLY’S ROCK ‘N’ ROLL CLUB: JON DODD @Alleycat

    Full Line Up: Jon Dodd, Cassava, Kavanagh, Silent Self, The UnderGrounD, The Suicide Tapes, Sorts Naughty, Tom Martin, Goldseal DJ Set

    Our Rock ‘N’ Roll clubs at Alleycat have become the place to be in Soho on a Saturday with some great live bands and Goldseal on the decks ‘til 3am.

    Headlining the show is Jon Dodd. Jon and his band, based in East London, play grungy, blues inspired alt/rock chock full of growling vocals and screeching guitars. This huge, vintage sound has seen Jon gain momentum on the underground sound of late, playing some of the Capital’s most well renowned stages, including Islington’s O2 Academy.

    Southampton quartet Cassava will be providing support. Cassava’s angsty indie rock is raw and infectious and played with tonnes of energy! This sound has seen them gain themselves festival slots, radio airplay and shows all over the country.

    Kavanagh are a five piece from Kent who play indie rock with fuzzy punk riffs, reminiscent of Slaves. The band have spent the summer playing on the underground festival circuit and bagging radio plays in their local area, and now they’re ready to show the Capital what they’re made of.

    We’ll also be joined by Surrey quartet, Silent Self. Playing laid back indie with eye watering solos, these guys may not have been on the scene long, but have already crafted a strong and confident sound.

    Croydon Mod quartet The UnderGrounD will be bringing with them their classic, feel good sound that has seen them gain some great reviews and radio airplay, and is a fresh take on the much loved genre.

    The Suicide Tapes are four guys from Hertfordshire who play dark, yet jangly alt/indie, reminiscent of the likes of The Cult and The Cure. These guys are seasoned pros and are set to play a nostalgic and unique set.

    Acoustic duo Sorts Naughty will be helping to set the tone for the evening. These two guys create unique funky folk that is sure to get everyones’ spirits sky high.

    Welsh wordsmith Tom Martin will be opening the show. Tom’s voice is truly captivating and has resulted in him playing this year’s Victorious Festival alongside some huge names!

  • CAFE ROCK: L SICARIO @Cafe 1001

    You’d be unlucky to miss out on this bill full of some of the best up and coming alt/rock acts the UK has to offer right now!

    After impressing promoters Absent Kelly at a previous show, L Sicario return to top the bill. This local London quartet may be relatively new to the scene, but are already making waves with their lo-fi garage rock. L Sicario have been putting in the hours playing the London underground circuit and are turning heads as they do so.

    We’ll also be joined by Tides, a female fronted, hard rock band from London, whose clever song writing, reminiscent of QOTSA and Royal Blood, is turning heads on the underground circuit.

    King Riot are a London based trio who will be bringing their high octane, punk inspired rock to the stage. Expect catchy choruses and tons of energy from these three!

    Joining us from South Wales as part of their UK tour is Digital Criminals. This quartet specialise in unique, catchy alt/rock that will hook you in and captivate you!

    Opening the show is Essex quartet, Fatality. These guys play hard and heavy metal with a ton of energy that has seen them gain a loyal following on their local scene.

  • ABSENT KELLY INTRODUCING: HANNAH HARPER @229

    Full Line Up: Hannah Harper, SNDS, Joseph James, TheodorBlack, BrazenFlow

    Yet again, promoters Absent Kelly bring a ton of fresh new talent to the West End’s 229.

    Topping the evening’s bill is Hannah Harper. Hannah and her band specialise in creating dark, electronic alt/pop, influenced by the likes of Lana Del Rey and London Grammar. Her latest release is being championed by BBC Introducing.

    Formed in the Montreal, but now based in London, SNDS channels 70s & 80s electronic music with a dash of rock, funk and soul. Think a mix of Yellow Magic Orchestra, Oasis and Chromeo.

    Joseph James is a singer-songwriter from London who plays anthemic alt/pop, reminiscent of Tom Odell.

    We’ll also be joined by TheodorBlack, a talented young Hip-Hop artist from London, that has seen him play some of the coolest underground venues in London.

    Opening the show is BrazenFlow. This promising Rap artist from London has formed his own strong and confident sound that is turning heads on the underground circuit.

    Full Line Up: Friday at 3, The Navettes, The Secret Crowd, The Sugar Snakes, Oliver Beardmore

    Unlucky for some, especially those who don’t make it done to our show at Surya this Friday 13th, as we’re packing the bill with some of the best unsigned bands we’ve seen on the underground circuit in the last year!

    Returning to top the bill after impressing promoters Absent Kelly at a previous shows, is Friday at Three. Pop/Rock trio, Friday at 3 specialise in high octane, catchy tunes, packed full of precise vocals harmonies and thrashing guitars. This signature sound has already bagged this band spots on festival line ups and big name venues, including Islington’s O2 Academy.

    Joining us all the way from Manchester for the show is The Navettes. Already creating a buzz around their local scene, this Indie/Rock five piece are known for putting on an energetic live show packed with infectious melodies! Definitely ones to watch.

    The Secret Crowd will be there too. These South Londoners are a four piece who play lively, feel good pop/rock with tons of energy. This energy has been turning heads South of the river, and we’re expecting a fun and charming set.

    The Sugar Snakes are a local East London quintet who have been on the scene for many years so are no stranger to the stage, playing jazz infused punk/rock. Expect true pros!

    Opening the show is Brummy singer-songwriter, Oliver Beardmore, whose jangly indie has gained him slots at huge venues, including his local O2 Academy.

    Full Line Up: She’s Seventeen, The Palmers, Keys, Charlotte Berg, Lucky 13

    We’re incredibly excited to be back at Islington’s O2 Academy2 with some a number of impressive young acts from around the country!

    Topping the evening’s bill, after impressing promoters Absent Kelly at a previous show, is She’s Seventeen. Based in South West London, this trio play high energy Indie/Punk, packed with catchy hooks and riffs a plenty! This confident sound has gained them slots at some absolutely huge venues, including the O2 Academy Islington and Twickenham Stadium.

    If you like new music, then you won’t want to miss The Palmers, a fledgling bluesy indie rock five piece who are already turning heads with their high octane performances and charming stage presence. We’re expecting big things from them!

    Joining us all the way from Stoke for the show are Keys. This female fronted garage rock quartet specialise in high energy punk influenced indie that has seen them play some big name venues up North, and gain local press coverage.

    Artist Charlotte Berg will be joining us all the way from the USA for the show. Charlotte’s sound has seen her gain numerous great reviews and tour the world with her brand of laid back folk inspired indie.

    Opening the show is Portsmouth quartet, Lucky 13, a female fronted alt/indie/rock band whose distinctive sound has seen them gain loads of radio airplay in their local area, including BBC Introducing, and work with some top industry names.

  • ABSENT KELLY INTRODUCING: ARMADA NAMED SOUND @Surya

    Full Line Up: Armada Named Sound, OLWH, Kris Evans, Black Stallion, Ruth Wood

    This October sees some of the best underground Electronic, Urban and Pop that the UK has to offer right now!

    After impressing promoters Absent Kelly at previous shows, Armada Named Sound is back. This electronic music project combines elements of everything from trip hop to trance creating something totally unique.

    We’ll also be joined by OLWH, a Hertfordshire based music producer who has crafted a unique set that gets the party started wherever he goes!

    Joining us from Manchester for the show is Kris Evans, an ex Britain’s Got Talent finalist who has toured with Little Mix and been featured on BBC Radio 1Xtra.

    Nathaniel Kwesi Afful aka Black Stallion is a singer-songwriter and producer who specialises in cradting Hip-Hop with a elements of dub and R&B.

    Young Welsh songstress Ruth Wood will be opening the show, with her captivating voice. Despite being very new to the scene, Ruth is already turning heads on the circuit!

  • ROCK THE BASEMENT: FORTIFY (ALBUM LAUNCH PARTY) @Hope & Anchor

    Full Line Up: Fortify, Sidelines, Tales of Perdition, Between the Lines, Kiss the Gun

    Just a few days before Halloween, head down to Islington’s Hope & Anchor to catch some of the best underground rock the South of England has to offer right now!

    Headlining the show to celebrate the release of their debut album, is Fortify. This Essex based five piece, who have impressed promoters Absent Kelly before, will be bringing their signature brand of female fronted “easy-core” to the stage. Merging elements of pop/punk and metal with frontwoman Anna’s distinctive vocals, we’re expecting big things from these guys off the back of their debut offering, especially since their debut single, “Emergency Exit” was featured on BBC Introducing.

    South East London quintet, Sidelines will be providing support. These guys create a huge sound, full of driving guitars and soaring vocals and high octane, energetic live shows.

    Tales of Perdition are a London based symphonic metal five piece who are relatively new to the scene, but are already turning heads with their distinctive sound.

    We’ll also be joined by Between the Lines, a five piece from Bedford whose high energy pop/punk has seen them play some huge venues, including the Camden Assembly.

    Opening the show are Salisbury hard rock five piece, Kiss the Gun. These guys are also on the verge of releasing their debut album, so expect a preview from them here!

  • REPUBLICA @Islington Assembly Hall

    Brit pop trail blazers, Republica return to London for a special, one off headline gig, curated by promoters Absent Kelly.

    Dominating the charts in the Nineties Republica are still going strong, with touring and new music releases. The band are best known for being one of the key proponents in the femme-Britpop scene along with Sleeper, Elastica, Garbage and Lush, or you may know them thanks to their hits being featured in over 300 films and adverts, including Scream. Not to mention their indie masterpiece hit single “Ready to Go” soaring to number one in eighteen countries!

    Republica are still driving crowds wild worldwide and are known for their electrifying performances. Without a doubt a must see, and certainly a band to see again!

  • SLYDIGS @O2 Academy2 Islington

    Join us this November, to bask in the glory of the next big thing in indie rock ‘n’ roll, Slydigs

    This quartet have skyrocketed from humble beginnings in Warrington, up to the big leagues of late! Last year, they toured Europe with cult heroes Vintage Trouble and the USA and Canada with rock gods, The Who, as well as playing a number of dates with them at London’s O2 Arena. This year they’re fresh off the European festival circuit, playing some of the biggest stages in the world and their latest EP, “How Animal Are You?” has been gaining rave reviews, including this flattering little gem from Spill Magazine, “Slydigs is a band destined to be a household name”.

    With hype like that around these guys, they’re not ones to be missed!

  • FRANKIE & THE HEARTSTRINGS @Brixton Jamm

    Indie pop Northerners, Frankie & the Heartstrings are joining us this December to make your Christmas come early.

    In their time, the band have worked with some huge names from the industry! Being signed to the famous Wichita and Rough Trade labels has seen the band get produced by the likes of Wichita label pal, The Cribs very own Ryan Jarman and Britpop Legends, Suede’s Bernard Butler. You’re also sure to be familiar with their feel good Indie anthem “Hunger” (which was famously and cleverly once used on a dominos advert)!

    The Pop Up Recs pioneers have toured with the likes of The Vaccines, Florence & the Machine and Kaiser Chiefs to name just a few, and have played some of the world’s biggest and best festivals, including Glastonbury and Latitude. They’re still very much going strong on stage now too, having spent the summer on the festival circuit.

    For a night of some of the most feel good music going, make sure you get yourselves down and satisfy that hunger!

  • SPACE @The Garage

    Christmas may well have come early for some of you, as 90s hit makers Space are hitting Islington’s famous Garage this December!

    The cult Scousers were known for their experimental pop/rock and famous hits, “Me and You Versus the World”, “Neighbourhood”, “Avenging Angels” and, probably their most famous of all, “Female of the Species” which was used in numerous adverts and television series, including as the theme tune to ITV’s famous “Cold Feet”. Throughout their career the band have been known for staying unique, whilst still bagging seven top 20 hits!

    Still known to give one hell of a live show, Space are not to be missed by anyone 90s rock lover!
