  • ABSENT KELLY’S EAST INDIE CLUB: ACADIAN DRIFTWOOD @93 Feet East

    Another huge bill of alt/indie talent comes to Brick Lane’s 93 Feet East this April, to hail in festival season with a bang.

    Topping the evening’s bill is Acadian Driftwood. Acadian Driftwood is a Scouse trio who play blues and Americana inspired alt/rock, and this unique sound has seen them bag slots alongside big names including the Hoosiers and Sonic Boom Six.

    Brummy quartet, The White Noise will be providing support. These guys play driving and infectious indie rock and roll that has seen them invited to play famous local venues, including the Sunflower Lounge and Birmingham’s O2 Academy.

    Hailing from South London, Fake Mars Trip have impressed promoters Absent Kelly before, and are set to do so again. These four lads play indie/rock that is packed full of catchy guitar riffs and has been turning heads on the grass roots London circuit.

    Cardiff’s Lunar Bird will be there too. The group play dark alt/dream pop with elements of folk, psychedelia and electronica, they’re totally unique and distinctive, and we implore you to see them on this rare trip to the Capital.

    Waiting for Smith’s sound is, in his own words, a “blend of new indie folk with a hint of pop, poignant ballads and foot-tapping soulful groove”. He’s gained great reviews from some top publications, including Clash Magazine, and recorded at the famous Abbey Road studios.

    Playing a special stripped back set on the evening is The Love Detectives. This outfit specialise in playing infectious mod-esque pop/rock that has seen them play world famous venues, including a sell out headline show at the 100 Club!

    Ephebe produces creative and unique work, and dubs himself “medieval folk music meets light indie”. Despite being relatively new on the scene, he’s already started bagging some great reviews.

  • ABSENT KELLY’S CAV CLUB: FLIPSWITCH @The Cavendish Arms

    Full Line Up: Flipswitch, Cold In July, Second Hand Arms Dealer, Layaway, Killglass

    We’ve moved this month, from King’s Cross’s Surya to Stockwell’s Cavendish Arms, so come for one hell of any alternative house warming on the 27th!

    We’ll also be joined by Kingston based pop/punk quartet, Flipswitch. These guys may be relatively new to the scene, but are already turning heads with their passionate and energetic performances! They’ve impressed promoters Absent Kelly at a previous show, and are ready to do so again!

    Cold In July are an Essex outfit who specialise in crafting big powerful riffs. They’re hard and heavy sound is turning heads on their local scene right now, also thanks to their stunning new EP, “Event Horizon”.

    Welsh rockers, Second Hand Arms Dealer will be there too. This punk trio specialise in overtly political messages, conveyed with screeching guitars and pounding drums, and vocals reminiscent of RATM.

    Joining us all the way from Glasgow, on the London leg of their tour, is Layaway. Expect powerful, anthemic rock from this quartet, that has already seen them bag great reviews and radio airplay North of the border.

    We’ll also be joined by Brummy three piece, Killglass, with their brand of anarchic rock. With snarling vocals, catchy riffs and rock and roll swagger, these guys are a real treat!

  • EMERGING: DUCHESS @O2 Academy2 Islington

    Full Line Up: Duchess, The Space, Forrest

    The O2 Academy2 plays host to another night curated by promoters Absent Kelly.

    Headlining is Duchess, the new Aristocracy of Rock ‘n’ Roll! This London outfit merges visual art, theatre, surrealism and the swagger of classic rock to create something that has seen them bag fantastic reviews, with TeamRock.com hailing their electric live performances as “like seeing Led Zeppelin fronted by Freddie Mercury”.

    We’ll also be joined by The Space. They may be relatively new to the scene, but they’ve already gained themselves a loyal following in their native Midlands with their infectious indie rock and charismatic live performances.

    Joining us all the way from Liverpool is Forrest, and emo indie quartet whose sad songs have a surprisingly chipper feel. This sound has bagged them numerous good reviews, and slots at famous local venues including the Zanzibar Club.

  • SONIC SKETCH: CELESTA @Notting Hill Arts Club

    Full Line Up: Celesta, The Stoned Crows, Stylite, Wild Phoenix, Rosie Whittle, Tanaka

    We’re rocking West London again this April, so get down to Notting Hill Arts Club for a bill of some of our favourites.

    Topping the evening’s bill is Celesta. Celesta is an acoustic duo consisting of Rob Gore on vocals and guitar, and Alex Chalstrey on piano, playing original material informed by Folk, Jazz & Blues. This unique sound has already seen the band play famous venues including Brixton’s Hootenanny and the Half Moon in Putney.

    Providing support is The Stoned Crows, a London quartet who specialise in crafting old school rhythm & blues with a rock edge. Their signature sound has seen them bag slots at big name venues, such as Islington’s O2 Academy and record at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis.

    Leicester’s Stylite are coming back to the Capital, this time with the full band. The band’s brand of alternative indie/folk has seen the act support up and coming names like Hunter and the Bear, and gain a loyal following on their local circuit.

    Wild Phoenix will be joining us from Oxford for the show. This semi-acoustic band may be relatively new to the scene, but have already bagged slots at some of their local stalwart venues, including the Wheatsheaf.

    After impressing Absent Kelly before, Rosie Whittle returns. Rosie is a singer songwriter from London who writes simple but infectious pop songs that has seen her championed by BBC Introducing. With Rosie’s distinctive and delicate vocals, we’re sure she’ll go far.

    Tanaka is also back after playing a blinder for the promoters before. Tanaka is a London based songstress who creates atmospheric, cinematic, soulful jazz, combined with elements of Trip Hop which is totally unique!

    Full Line Up: Liam McGlynn & the Wondertones, Thomas Seyah, Tash Fernando, Anneli, GRIINS

    After the success of their first On the Radar show, promoters Absent Kelly return to Cargo with another bill full of new artists.

    Topping the evening’s bill is Liam McGlynn & the Wondertones. Based in London, and fronted by the hugely talented Liam himself, this outfit will be bringing the party to the stage with their dance-ready Neo-soul/funk!

    Bristolian singer-songwriter Thomas Seyah will be there too, with his band. Thomas’s funk/soul/R&B hybrid is criminally infectious and has seen him bag airplay on BBC radio stations across the South West.

    We’ll also be joined by the very talented Tasha Fernando and her band. London based Tash’s stunning voice and soulful jazz pop has seen her bag airplay and great reviews!

    Cambridgeshire songstress Anneli will be bringing her brand of chart ready pop to the stage. Her sound has seen her featured in local press and on BBC Introducing.

    Opening the show is GRIINS. Combining alt/pop with drag and a cinematic flare, GRIINS is an exciting new project which is turning heads of the likes of Berkshire’s BBC Introducing.

    We’re bringing the party to Shoreditch’s Lighthouse this May!

    Topping the evening’s bill is Arktet. This Brighton quartet combine woodwind, with drums and guitar to create an experimental funky sound that is completely unique! They’re relatively new to the London scene, but we can’t wait to see what they’ve got in store!

    Northern Irish electro pop trio, Vokxen are making waves, not only on home turf, but all over Europe, having been championed by BBC Introducing, Clash Magazine, Amazing Radio & Dublin’s 98FM to name a few.

    We’ll also be joined by Eleni C. This pop superstar in the making has already gained the attention of the likes of MTV and seen her perform in front of thousands of people at London Pride.

    Opening the show is Haz, a London based songstress whose stunning voice has seen her bag slots at famous London venues, including the Bedford.

    Friends of Absent Kelly and emerging East Londoners, Dishy Tangent are on a mission to promote their fantastic debut album, with the help of some famous friends, and we’re bringing them to Shoredtich’s Cargo for one night only!

    Local East London lads, Dishy Tangent are on the verge of great things at the moment, partially thanks to their stunning debut album! The indie/hip-hop quartet have been making waves on the Capital’s underground circuit with their electric live performances and now they’re ready to break through to the next level!

    The night will be hosted and MC’d by Grime sensation and golden boy of the moment, Big Narstie. As well as his music, this multimedia sensation has been keeping busy gracing our TV screens on the Big Fat Quiz and going viral off the back of his appearance on Good Morning Britain. On the decks for the evening is Kenny Allstar, a producer and DJ, best known for his regular shows on BBC Radio 1Extra.

    We’ll also have a stunning live support line up too, so for a night to remember with some of the most exciting rising stars around, look no further.

  • ABSENT KELLY INTRODUCING: THE PALPITATIONS @229

    Full Line Up: The Palpitations, The Breaks, Swilly Chill, Piperline, Pilgrims’ Dream, Fantastic Mr. Marcel, Toby Charles

    We’re bringing a huge bill of new indie acts to the West End’s 229 with a load of our favourites.

    The Palpitations are a hotly tipped grungy indie/rock band from Luton, who combine elements from influences such as Nirvana and The Smiths, to create their signature sound. They may be relatively new to the scene, but we can see big things on the horizon for them.

    Rock ‘N’ Roll trio, The Breaks will be providing support. Reminiscent of the bluesy feel of the Arctic Monkeys, these guys promise to bring an electric and anarchic performance that has seen them play famous venues, including Camden’s Dublin Castle.

    Swilly Chill is a quartet from Teeside who blend Indie, Pop and Rock sounds with smooth vocals and vibrant live shows that have connected with the audiences around the North of England. The band have already impressed the promoters with their sound that’s reminiscent of Kings of Leon.

    North London lads Piperline will be there too. This talented pair will be bringing their catchy pop rock to the stage. If their new single “Scarecrow”, which has just dropped, is anything to go by, these boys are going to be a real treat!

    London based Pilgrims’ Dream is a talented singer-songwriter and official finalist in the 2017 American Songwriting Awards, and the Hollywood Songwriting Contest. With his new release ‘Ocean’. With this recognition already, we can’t wait to see what he does next!

    Fantastic Mr. Marcel will also be there with his infectious indie pop that fuses elements of soul, blues, rock and funk to create something feel good and unique. This singer-songwriter has already impressed promters Absent Kelly before, and is set to do so again.

    Opening the show is  Toby Charles will be bringing his brand of modern blues to the stage for the evening. Toby’s voice is truly captivating and has seen him gain great reviews and airplay on renowned stations, such as Amazing Radio.

    The London stage is no stranger to Absent Kelly and our bills crammed full of new and exciting bands from around the country and we’re not breaking the mold with our May date at Notting Hill Arts Club!

    Introducing South of the River. South-west London’s newest 4 piece indie-rock band, blending catchy indie pop with heavier rock influences that has seen them play some of London’s best loved underground venues, including Nambucca and the Brixton Windmill.

    Grimsby fuzz pop trio, The Last of the Wonder Kids, specialise in crafting sublime indie pop that has seen them become local BBC Introducing and promoters favourites. They’re now ready to take on the Capital and we cannot wait!

    No nonsense Wolverhampton indie rockers, The Jack Fletcher Band will be there too. To date these lads have played numerous festivals, including Lakefest and Party In the Pines, and supported the likes of Primal Scream, The Coral and Cast.

    Lancashire lads Three Day Weekend will be bringing their brand of anarchic indie rock, reminiscent of the likes of the Arctic Monkeys to the evening. This sound has seen them gain radio airplay, coveted live slots, and a loyal fanbase up North!

    Captain Crash & the Magic Hats are a Hampshire based outfit who play laid back, nostalgic indie. They mix elements of blues, folk and psychedelia to create their distinctive signature sound.

    Opening the show is Daze, an Oxford duo who play delightful indie pop topped by the captivating vocals of frontwoman Daisy Eaton.

    This May, AK are bringing rock bands from all over the UK to the London stage!

    Topping the evening’s bill is Among the Echoes. This dark synth-rock band from Birmingham have a distinctive hybrid sound that is totally original and has seen them gain radio airplay, and play live across the country!

    Italian rock trio The Von are no strangers to acclaim! They’ve featured heavily on radio, TV (including MTV), and was a 2017 feature for the SXSW music festival. With all that already accomplished, we can’t wait to see what they do next!

    We’ll also be joined by Heathen. This five piece from Suffolk play classic rock that will have you moshing along in no time at all! They’ve impressed promoters Absent Kelly before and are set to again!

    Joining us all the way from Norway for the show, are Hollow Illusion. A hard rock duo that are on a mission to tour the world, you won’t want to miss this opportunity to see them in the Capital!

    Opening the show is Balaban & the Bald Illegals from the Black Country. The band’s sound has seen them gain a name for themselves on their local scene, now they’re ready to take on London!

    The Palpitations are a hotly tipped grungy indie/rock band from Luton, who combine elements from influences such as Nirvana and The Smiths, to create their signature sound. They may be relatively new to the scene, but they’ve impressed promoters Absent Kelly on numerous occasions already.

    Dorset quartet, Mandy For Girls will be providing support. This anarchic grunge/indie quartet have already turned the heads of a lot of radio stations, including BBC Introducing, with their sound that’s reminiscent of Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

    Joining us all the way from Nottingham for the show is Pretty Babs. This quartet play fast and furious rock and roll, reminiscent of the Gaslight Anthem, that has seen them championed by the likes of BBC Introducing.

    The Crooked Kings are a quartet from London whose blues tinged indie rock is modern, unique and catchy as hell! This sound has seen the band championed by the likes of BBC Introducing and play big name venues including the Camden Assembly.

    Wolverhampton rockers, Electus will also be there. This quartet will be rocking the stage with their sound that has seen them gain great reviews, radio airplay, and spots on festival bills.

    Scotland’s The Good Arms will be bringing their rock and roll swagger to the stage. Having recently been awarded Track of the Week on Amazing Radio, we’re expecting big things!

    Bath lo-fi indie trio, Caught By the Bears have made a name for themselves on their local scene playing famous venues likes Moles and now they’re ready to show the Capital what they’re made of.

    Opening the show is Scott & Maria. This Brighton based acoustic duo’s amazing harmonies will both enthral and charm you.

    We’ve gathered some of our favourite pop, soul and R&B acts, as well as some new blood, to play Notting Hill’s famous Arts Club this May!

    London songstress Adannay will be joining us to headline the show. With her band, Adannay will be bringing her brand of soulful R&B to the evening, which she marries with her signature style of storytelling, which has seen her gain a ton of great reviews, a feature on BBC Introducing and slots at some of London’s best loved venues like Brixton’s Hootenanny. She’s already impressed promoters Absent Kelly before, so we’re expecting big things!

    JJ Leone plays an infectious hybrid of R&B, soul and pop that has seen him bag some fantastic reviews and a coveted Sofar session!

    Opening the show is York based singer/songwriter Jess Phillips. This talented artist will be bringing her brand of acoustic pop to the evening, and starting the evening in style.
