  • ABSENT KELLY’S EAST INDIE CLUB: THE PALPITATIONS @93 Feet East

    Full Line Up: The Palpitations, Mandy For Girls, Pretty Babs, The Crooked Kings, Electus, The Good Arms, Caught By The Bears, Scott & Maria

    Start your bank holiday weekend right this May with a massive show at Brick Lane’s 93 Feet East.

    The Palpitations are a hotly tipped grungy indie/rock band from Luton, who combine elements from influences such as Nirvana and The Smiths, to create their signature sound. They may be relatively new to the scene, but they’ve impressed promoters Absent Kelly on numerous occasions already.

    Dorset quartet, Mandy For Girls will be providing support. This anarchic grunge/indie quartet have already turned the heads of a lot of radio stations, including BBC Introducing, with their sound that’s reminiscent of Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

    Joining us all the way from Nottingham for the show is Pretty Babs. This quartet play fast and furious rock and roll, reminiscent of the Gaslight Anthem, that has seen them championed by the likes of BBC Introducing.

    The Crooked Kings are a quartet from London whose blues tinged indie rock is modern, unique and catchy as hell! This sound has seen the band championed by the likes of BBC Introducing and play big name venues including the Camden Assembly.

    Wolverhampton rockers, Electus will also be there. This quartet will be rocking the stage with their sound that has seen them gain great reviews, radio airplay, and spots on festival bills.

    Scotland’s The Good Arms will be bringing their rock and roll swagger to the stage. Having recently been awarded Track of the Week on Amazing Radio, we’re expecting big things!

    Bath lo-fi indie trio, Caught By the Bears have made a name for themselves on their local scene playing famous venues likes Moles and now they’re ready to show the Capital what they’re made of.

    Opening the show is Scott & Maria. This Brighton based acoustic duo’s amazing harmonies will both enthral and charm you.

  • SONIC SKETCH: ADANNAY @Notting Hill Arts Club

    Full Line Up: Adannay, Anneli, Al MorrissJJ LeoneBlu Ernest, Jess Phillips

    We’ve gathered some of our favourite pop, soul and R&B acts, as well as some new blood, to play Notting Hill’s famous Arts Club this May!

    London songstress Adannay will be joining us to headline the show. With her band, Adannay will be bringing her brand of soulful R&B to the evening, which she marries with her signature style of storytelling, which has seen her gain a ton of great reviews, a feature on BBC Introducing and slots at some of London’s best loved venues like Brixton’s Hootenanny. She’s already impressed promoters Absent Kelly before, so we’re expecting big things!

    Cambridgeshire songstress Anneli will be bringing her brand of chart ready pop to the stage. Her sound has seen her featured in local press and on BBC Introducing.

    Essex singer-songwriter Al Morriss will be joining us for the evening with his live band. Expect a set of infectious soulful R&B that has already seen him turn heads on his local scene.

    JJ Leone plays an infectious hybrid of R&B, soul and pop that has seen him bag some fantastic reviews and a coveted Sofar session!

    Joining us from Coventry for the show is Blu Ernest. Blu Ernest specialises in crafting hypnotic R&B slow jams, reminiscent of Jack Garratt, that has already seen him feature on BBC Introducing.

    Opening the show is York based singer/songwriter Jess Phillips. This talented artist will be bringing her brand of acoustic pop to the evening, and starting the evening in style.

  • ABSENT KELLY’S SHINING LIGHTS: THE EDIT @The Lighthouse

    Full Line Up: The Edit, Insecure Frank, Gnarkats, Ellie Firmo

    We’re heading East bound to start June in style at the happenin’ Lighthouse.

    Local London quartet The Edit will be topping the bill after impressing promoters Absent Kelly at previous shows. Expect a mix of ska, rock and punk from these guys, performed with tons of energy and charm. They’ve been turning heads all over the underground scene in the Capital, so come and see what all the fuss is about.

    We’ll also be joined by Insecure Frank. First debuted at Battersea Arts Centre in South London, Frank is a Poet and Singer Songwriter from the Atlantic Islands of the Azores, now based in London, who produces melodic soulful folk.

    Northern Ireland’s Gnarkats also provide support. Having gained a lot of love in their native Ireland from the likes of Hotpress, The Thin Air, The Last Mixed Tape, RTE2fm, BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio Ulster, now they’re ready to show the Capital what they’re made of.

    Opening the show is Ellie Firmo. This young singer songwriter from Surrey produces infectious acoustic indie/pop, influenced by the likes of Etta James and Adele.

  • ABSENT KELLY INTRODUCING: SOME VILLAINS EP LAUNCH PARTY @229

    Full Line Up: Some VillainsZhivagoRock ‘N’ Roll Suicides, BloodhoundHollow Illusion,  Coal Crane

    We’re bringing a huge bill of rock and roll to the West End’s 229 this June to start festival season in style!

    Some Villains will be headlining the show to celebrate the realease of their latest EP. These four lads from Somerset play bluesy, classic hard rock, with a sense of swagger, which has seen them bag some fantastic reviews of late. Expect an electrifying set!

    Providing support is Zhivago. This West Midlands based alternative rock quartet play hugely infectious, modern rock that has seen them bag slots at famous local venues including the Sunflower Lounge. Now they’re ready to show the Capital what they’re made of!

    Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicides are also coming along after impressing promoters Absent Kelly before. Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicides are a four piece from London who play a heady hybrid of punk and garage rock with a dark twist.

    Hull trio Bloodhound will be bringing their brand of grunge rock. For fans of Royal Blood and Nirvana, they’ve featured on BBC Introducing and bagged great reviews from VOXX Magazine, The Sesh and more!

    Joining us all the way from Norway for the show, are Hollow Illusion. A hard rock duo that are on a mission to tour the world, you won’t want to miss this opportunity to see them in the Capital!

    Local London duo, Coal Crane will be bringing their brand of “nu grunge” to the stage for the evening. With an EP on the way, we’re very excited to see what they do next!

    Friends of AK, Indea are live at Brick Lane’s 93 Feet East this June to celebrate their brand new release!

    Indea is a North London based band whose guitar driven indie rock, with a soulful, funky edge is catchy as hell, and is sure to get you dancing! After impressing promoters Absent Kelly at previous shows, including a massive date at London’s iconic Scala alongside alt-J, the quartet are back to celebrate the launch of their new single. Having already been championed on numerous radio stations and shortlisted for national competitions, we’re sure that this new single is going to see this emerging band blow up!

  • ABSENT KELLY’S INDIE CAFE: NO MAD @Cafe 1001

    Full Line Up: no mad, Project Culture, The Crooked Kings, Hijakkt, Overfield, Fantastic Mr. Marcel

    We’re bringing a bunch of AK faves to Brick Lane’s Cafe 1001 this June to start festival season in style.

    Topping the evening’s bill is no mad. no mad are a five piece from London that play sublime funk rock that is impossible not to dance to! Their distinctive sound has seen them turn heads all over the London underground circuit, gaining them airplay on Shoreditch Radio and support slots alongside big names like Space.

    Lo-Fi indie rock quartet Project Culture will be bringing their unpretentious sound to the stage. The band have already played famous venues including Kingston’s Fighting Cocks, and have impressed promoters Absent Kelly before, so we can’t wait to see what they do next!

    The Crooked Kings are a quartet from London whose blues tinged indie rock is modern, unique and catchy as hell! This sound has seen the band championed by the likes of BBC Introducing and play big name venues including the Camden Assembly.

    AK faves Hijakkt will be there too. This London based band will be playing their brand of feel good Americana inspired indie rock, that has seen them share bills with big names, including alt-J and play iconic venues like London’s Scala.

    We’ll also be joined by Overfield. This London outfit are the new incarnation of old friends of AK, Tripp Hazard, and they specialise in playing bluesy, funky classic rock, reminiscent of the likes of Fleetwood Mac.

    Fantastic Mr. Marcel will also be there with his infectious indie pop that fuses elements of soul, blues, rock and funk to create something feel good and unique. This singer-songwriter has already impressed us before, and is set to do so again.

  • EMERGING: GECKO CLUB @The Borderline

    Promoters Absent Kelly return to Soho’s famous Borderline with a bill of some of their favourite emerging artists around right now.

    Topping the evening’s bill is Gecko Club. Following a sold out show at Islington’s O2 Academy, this fledgling band are looking to cement themselves on the London underground circuit. The band was formed by frontman James Neilson, who was recently crowned champion of the ‘Open Mic UK’ competition, earning him a slot playing at Birmingham’s huge NEC, press coverage and BBC Radio airplay! Now he’s looking to build on this success with Gecko Club, and we predict big things are on the horizon for them!
